Montenegro

Don't Miss:

Old city of Kotor

Budva night life

Herceg Novi

Swimming stop at King’s beach

The Blue caves near Rose

Montenegro (Black Mountains) is an amazing sailing spot on the Adriatic coast, bordering Croatia to the north and Albania to the south. Mountainous landscapes are a stunning setting for your sailing trip through the narrow bay of Kotor. From West to East: Herceg Novi, the Perast twin Islands, Tivat, Kotor, Budva and Sveti Stefan are great places to discover for sailing fanatics.

The cruise in Montenegro is divided into two parts: the Kotor Bay (a fjord divided into two basins) and the coastline (from Rose to Bar). The sailing area is very easy and is recommended for families and newcomers to sailing, or for those looking for a new destination for their vacation.

The recommended sailing season is between May and October. The weather is warm and pleasant with temperatures ranging from 22-30 degrees along the coastline. The prevailing winds are Northerly to North-Westerly. The Bora winds can occur suddenly from the Northeast, and you should keep an eye out for its sudden arrival.

The nicely preserved medieval city of Kotor, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is surrounded by fascinating mountains that rise well above 1.000m high. Enjoy local food and drink in the narrow streets and cobbled squares in this walled city.

Day 3:

Sail to Bigova Bay (a small fishing village) for a night anchorage in the nature under the natural canopy of stars. On the way there you can stop at blue caves near Rose

Day 4:

Head further south to the city of Budva, where you’ll find an old and “new” city with sandy beaches along the coast. The city is also known for its great atmosphere, night life and beach clubs.

Day 5:

A day off from sailing. Enjoy what Budva has to offer. You can also take a tour to the “Big lake” (about 45 min drive from Budva). Another option is to sail for a lunch stop at the beautiful King’s beach or Sveti Stefan, where an ancient terracotta roofed village meets modern day luxury resort. Back to Budva marina for the night.

DAY 6:

Overnight at Porto Montenegro, Tivat town, a luxury marina with a chic beach club and beautiful pool.
